Dernier Quartier-Général de Napoléon and Hougoumont’s Bivouacs
1815 Battle at Plancenoit and at Hougoumont
The week-end programming is planned in the following way:
Bivouacs
Above 1 200 soldiers in uniform will come from 12 countries.
Two bivouac places are planned: the French at the provincial museum « Dernier Quartier-Général de Napoléon » (Genappe), the English-speaking Dutch and the Prussians at the Hougoumont farm (Braine-l’Alleud).
The bivouac at the Dernier Quartier-Général de Napoléon will be opened on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 13h00 to 17h00.
The bivouac at Hougoumont’s farm is planned on Saturday from 2 to 6 pm and on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 pm.
Battles
On Saturday June 21, the Combats de Plancenoit will take place. Troops will leave their bivouacs of the Dernier Quartier Général de Napoléon and the Hougoumont’s farm to reach Plancenoit.
At 8 pm, the battle will get under way between Allied and French troops on the fields near the Place du village.
At about 9.30 pm, all the troops will reach the Place de Plancenoit for the final fight, before performing a flaming torch retreat until the Dernier Quartier Général de Napoléon in Genappe.
The access to the battle on Saturday is free-of-charge.
On Sunday June 22, the battles in the fields near the Hougoumont’s farm (Braine- l’Alleud) will take place between Allied and French troops.
Fighting will begin at 10 o’clock and end around 12 am. Troops will sound the retreat to the Hameau du Lion.

Saturday at 1 pm, the audience can assist to the Napoleon’s diner in the garden.
Meals representative of imperial cookery will be presented to the Emperor and to his state staffs.
Sunday around 2 pm in the museum’s orchard after the French troops come-back from the Hougoumont battle, doctors and ambulance drivers in vintage uniforms will try to save injured men and give First-Aids to the least wounded with tools and typical implement from the Napoleonic period. |
